Impact & Sustainability

Here at the Healthy Back Bag Company we strive to do the best we can for the people around us and the planet we live on. We have always been committed to creating bags that are made to last and we are putting the same focus and dedication into becoming a more responsible business.

We understand that sustainability is not easy, that’s why we believe in being transparent and honest about our efforts to reduce our environmental impact. We want our customers to feel confident in their purchase decisions, knowing that we are doing our best to make a difference.

We are constantly researching new fabrics to find ways of making Healthy Back Bags relevant to our customers.

While achieving 100% organic and recycled materials isn’t always feasible, we’re well on our way. All of our  prints from Autumn / Winter 23 onwards are made from 100% recycled polyester and printed with Oeko-Tex® approved dyes.

Recycled Block Party Small

Taking small but significant steps.

Our protective poly bag is now made from 100% recycled and recyclable plastic and our hangtags are made from 100% FSC certified paper printed with soy inks.

Recycle & repair

Give your used HBB a second chance.

Our newly launched pre-loved program offers you a way to responsibly part with your old bag. By sending your old bag to us you will receive a 15% off voucher to use on your next purchase and we will take care of deconstructing the bags for recycling. Any bag still in sufficient working order will be donated to charity.

For more information see our dedicated page here.

Charities matter

Since 2022 we have donated over 1300 baby changing mats and waterproof pouches to a number of baby charities who use them to help new mothers around the UK. Good quality cosmetic seconds are sent to Barnardos and any excess stock is donated to charity.

We aim to be inclusive and supportive in our fundraising and have raised funds through the sale of our bags for the Disasters Emergency Committee’s Ukraine Crisis Appeal, CoppaFeel, and The Unity Fund run by Pride in London.

Craftsmanship, quality and durability form the backbone of our manufacturing process.

We’re proud to say that we’re uncompromising in our commitment to nurturing long-term relationships with suppliers who treat their workers fairly and it is our company-wide mission to work alongside our global supply chain in safeguarding the working conditions and rights of the workers in the factories that supply our products. Our bags have been made by the same manufacturer in China for over 25 years and in normal circumstances we visit them 3 to 4 times a year.
