Textured Nylon
Textured Nylon is a best-seller and for good reason. This fabric is robust and durable, lightweight, machine washable, and weather resistant. The water-resistant coating is C-Zero meaning it is free from harmful perfluorinated substances (PFOA & PFOS). As of Autumn / Winter 26 we will have transitioned all but two colours over to a recycled version of our much loved textured nylon - stay tuned for when it becomes the full range!
Recycled Nylon
Lightweight, weather resistant, and machine washable. Like Textured Nylon it's also treated with C-Zero coating for water-resistance. Recycled Nylon is made from post-industrial waste like yarn production scraps. Its smooth finish gives a modern, everyday look.
Leather
Our leather is top grade, full-grain and drum-dyed for rich long-lasting colour. It's also durable, naturally water-resistant and will easily withstand daily use. Elegant, practical and comfortable to carry.
Recycled Polyester
Our 100% recycled polyester material is made from post consumer waste like plastic bottles. Used in our print collection and selected special editions, it's lightweight, hard wearing and machine washable. It's also treated with C-Zero coating for resistance.
Tyvek®
Lightweight and durable, Tyvek® offers a unique paper-like appearance with the strength to withstand everyday adventures. Resistant to water, tears and abrasion, it's designed to be both practical and distinctive. Over time, the material develops a naturally lived-in look, giving each bag its own character.
Microfibre
Microfibre is made of densely packed fine fibres which create a lightweight and wrinkle free material with a soft sheen. A smart, sophisticated yet robust fabric.

Every single one of our bags features our signature recycled polyester silver lining. Not just a design choice, the silver lining means you can easily and quickly locate your items deep inside your bag.

What materials are Healthy Back Bags made from?
Healthy Back Bags are available in a carefully selected range of materials, including Textured Nylon, Recycled Nylon, Recycled Polyester, Microfibre and Leather. We also use selected special-edition materials such as Tyvek®. Each offers a different balance of weight, durability, care and finish, helping you find the right bag for how you plan to use it.
Do Healthy Back Bags use recycled materials?
Yes. Our Recycled Nylon is made using post-industrial waste such as yarn production scraps, while printed collections from Autumn/Winter 2024 onwards are made from 100% recycled polyester using post-consumer waste. Every Healthy Back Bag also features our signature recycled polyester silver lining, and we are currently transitioning our Textured Nylon collection to a recycled version.
Which Healthy Back Bag material is best for everyday use?
Textured Nylon is a great all-round choice for everyday use. It is lightweight, hardwearing, weather resistant and machine washable, with a subtle pebbled finish and a wide choice of colours.
For a smoother, more understated finish, choose Recycled Nylon. Recycled Polyester is ideal if you prefer colourful prints, while Leather provides a timeless premium finish, and Tyvek® is an excellent option when keeping weight to a minimum is the priority.
Are Healthy Back Bags machine washable?
Many Healthy Back Bag fabric styles are machine washable, including our Textured Nylon, Recycled Nylon and Recycled Polyester bags.
Microfibre should normally be spot cleaned, while Leather should be cared for using a suitable pH-balanced leather cleaner and conditioner. Some special-edition materials may have different requirements, so always check the care label or individual product instructions before washing.

Are Healthy Back Bags waterproof or water resistant?
Many Healthy Back Bag materials, including Textured Nylon, Recycled Nylon, Recycled Polyester and Tyvek®, are water or weather resistant. They are designed to handle light rain, splashes and everyday use, but they are not completely waterproof and should not be submerged.
Our Textured Nylon, Recycled Nylon and Prints bags are treated with a C-Zero water-resistant coating that is free from PFOA and PFOS.
What is Recycled Nylon made from?
Our Recycled Nylon is made using post-industrial waste, including scraps left over during yarn production. This material is turned into a smooth, lightweight fabric that is durable, weather resistant and machine washable, helping reduce manufacturing waste while remaining practical for everyday use.
What are Healthy Back Bag printed bags made from?
All Healthy Back Bag printed collections from Autumn/Winter 2024 onwards are made from 100% recycled polyester. The fabric uses post-consumer waste such as recycled plastic bottles and is printed using Oeko-Tex® approved dyes.
Recycled Polyester is lightweight, hardwearing and machine washable, making it well suited to our colourful prints and selected special editions.
Are Healthy Back Bag leather bags made from real Leather?
Yes. Our Leather Healthy Back Bags are made from premium full-grain leather that has been drum-dyed for rich, long-lasting colour. Full-grain leather is durable, naturally water resistant and designed to soften and develop character over time.
Leather bags should not be machine washed. Use a suitable pH-balanced leather cleaner and conditioner to help maintain the material. check our blog on how to clean a leather bag for more guidance
What is Tyvek®?
Tyvek® is made from high-density polyethylene fibres. It is exceptionally lightweight while also being water resistant, tear-proof and durable, making it particularly suitable for travel, active days and customers who prefer a lighter bag.
What are Healthy Back Bag linings made from?
Every Healthy Back Bag features our signature silver lining, which is made from recycled polyester. The light-coloured interior makes it easier to see and find items inside the bag, particularly in the deeper sections and internal pockets.
